The Cantinetta in Florence
In a period which exalts exotic cuisine, the Cantinetta is a local which focuses on Chianti and its specialties. At the “Cantinetta dei Verrazzano” in fact, it is possible to enjoy the products of the homonymous farm, and from its own oven.
This local is owned and run by the Cappellini family (owners of the Castello di Verrazzano in Greve in Chianti, which in its 52 hectares produces about 250.00 bottles) who took over the old Florentine bakery “Semellino”, recovering a touch of tradition together with the revisitation of classic specialties.
In a room we find the baker’s counter, complete with pastries and rustic biscuits, the coffee and breakfast bar (serving the famous La Casa del Caffè coffee blend), the old baker’s oven standing 15 feet high and in the end a space with tables and seating.
In another room we find the wine shop serving the products from the Castle such as honey, extra virgin olive oil, vinegar and balsamico, in addition to all Verrazzano wines of course.
It is possible to taste the delicacies prepared at the counter with the specialties of the best butchers in Greve in Chianti. For the more refined ones “Pane di vino” with sbriciolona (fennel-seeds salami) with egg, small sandwiches, excellence salami, cheese selection, cecina (chickpea focaccia) and chestnut cake in season.
